After thirty years of researching my family history, I came across something which I simply could not get out of my head. Anyone who writes will know the feeling created by thoughts that just won't go away. My answer was to write it down, believing I could then forget it. However, I did not bank on the persuasiveness of my mind to return to what I had discovered, and so began the long road to writing my first novel, and 'When Darkness Falls' came into being.
I am now in the process of self-publishing on the Amazon site. Why self-publishing? It's a no brainer for me. At my age, I doubt I have years to wait for an agent to like my work, or for a publisher to take it up. More importantly, though, my mother is 95 this year and I desperately want her to be able to hold this book in her hand.
